Mag Locks

Electro-magnetic locks (mag locks) are widely used when a swing gate needs to be securely locked. Typically, they are installed in the closed position, though in some cases they can also be used to lock the gate in the open position. Mag locks are suitable for both single-leaf and double-leaf swing gates.

They are not suitable for solar-powered swing gate installations. In those cases, an electric solenoid lock is required instead.

Electric gate locks are recommended for all swing gate setups where a single gate leaf is 2.5m or wider, in locations exposed to strong winds (regardless of gate size), when gates have heavy cladding that acts like a sail, or whenever the gate must be locked for security.

Mag locks are available in various holding strengths, ranging from 180kgf to 600kgf, and operate by becoming magnetised (locked) when power is supplied.

Wholesale Gate Automation advises using a relay in all cases with an electronic lock.
